Messier 106 is a spiral galaxy in the constellation Canes Venatici.
Also known as NGC 4258, M106 is about 80,000 light-years across and 23.5 million light-years away
It is one of the Swift galaxies, which means that the galaxy also radiates at abnormal wavelengths, which also indicates the presence of a large mass black hole at its center.
Another prominent spiral galaxy on the scene, viewed nearly edge-on, is NGC 4217 below and right of M106. The distance to NGC 4217 is , estimated to be about 60 million light-years.
NGC 4217 is a possible companion galaxy of Messier 106
Also, a number of other galaxies can be seen in the image.

کهکشان مسیه 106 و همدم ش
مسیه ۱۰۶ یک کهکشان مارپیچی در صورت فلکی تازیها است
فاصله اش تا زمین ۲۳.۵ میلیون سال نوری است و ۸۰ هزار سال نوری عرض دارد
و جزو کهکشانهای سویفرت به حساب می آید، که به این معنی است که کهکشان در طول موجهای
غیرعادی نیز تابش میکند، و این نیز نماینگر وجود یک سیاهچاله کلان جرم در مرکز آن است
کهکشان برجسته دیگری که از لبه دیده میشود ان جی سی ۴۲۱۷ است که در پایین و سمت
راست تصویر دیده میشود که حدود ۶۰ میلیون سال نوری از ما فاصله دارد
ان جی سی ۴۲۱۷ احتمالا کهکشان همدم ام ۱۰۶ است همچنین تعدادی کهکشان دیگر در تصویر قابل مشاهده است
