Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) was discovered on January 3, 2025 and is still moving towards the inner Solar System.
The comet was discovered by the Mount Lemmon Survey, using a 60-inch (1.52 m) Cassegrain reflecting telescope equipped with a 10,560 x 10,560 pixel camera.The comet was discovered when it was 4.5 astronomical units from the Sun.
Comet Lemmon will reach perihelion on November 8, 2025, when it will be 0.53 astronomical units (79 million km ;49 million mi) from the Sun.
The comet will reach its closest approach to Earth on October 21, 2025.
Lemmon will likely be visible to the naked eye at this time. The comet will be best seen in pre-dawn skies until mid October
