Mid-sized Jupiter-family Comet
Comet 21P Giacobini-Zinner (officially designated as 21P/Giacobini–Zinner) is a periodic comet in the Solar System. It was discovered by Michel Giacobini, who observed it in the constellation of Aquarius on 20 December 1900. It was recovered two orbits later by Ernst Zinner, while he was observing variable stars near Beta Scuti on 23 October 1913.
21P/Giacobini-Zinner is a mid-sized comet whose orbit features a relatively short period, low inclination, and is controlled by Jupiter’s gravitational effects. NASA JPL has classified 21P/Giacobini-Zinner as a “Near Earth Asteroid” due to its orbit’s proximity to Earth, but it is not considered potentially hazardous because computer simulations have not indicated any imminent likelihood of future collision.
At the Iranian Space Organization Festival on the occasion of World Astronomy Week, I reached third place in the telescopic photography category with photos of Comet Giacobini-Zinner and the Monkey Head Nebula.

دنباله‌دار جیاکوبینی-زینر
دنباله‌دار جیاکوبینی-زینر،یک دنباله‌دار دوره‌ای در منظومه شمسی است. این دنباله‌دار توسط میشل جیاکوبینی کشف شد که آن را در ۲۹ آذر ۱۲۷۹ در صورت فلکی دلو مشاهده کرد. این دنباله‌دار دو بار بعد توسط ارنست زینر، در حالی که در ۱ آبان ۱۲۹۲ در حال مشاهده ستارگان متغیر در نزدیکی بتا اسکوتی بود، دیده شد
جیاکوبینی-زینر یک دنباله‌دار با اندازه متوسط است که مدار آن دوره تناوب نسبتاً کوتاهی دارد، شیب مداری آن کم است و توسط اثرات گرانشی مشتری کنترل می‌شود. آزمایشگاه جی پی ال ناسا، این دنباله دار را به دلیل نزدیکی مدارش به زمین، به عنوان یک “سیارک نزدیک زمین” طبقه‌بندی کرده است، اما به دلیل اینکه شبیه‌سازی‌های کامپیوتری هیچ احتمال قریب‌الوقوعی برای برخورد در آینده نشان نداده‌اند، به عنوان یک سیارک خطرناک در نظر گرفته نمی‌شود
در جشنواره سازمان فضایی ایران به مناسبت هفته جهانی نجوم دربخش عکاسی تلسکوپی عکس ، دنباله دار جیاکوبینی – زینر و سحابی سر میمون به رتبه سوم از نگاه داوران رسیدم
