Lagoon Nebula ,M8 was discovered in 1654 by the italian astronomer Giovanni Battista Hodierna.
This star forming cloud of interstellar gas is located in the constellation Sagittarius and its apparent magnitude of 6 makes it faintly visible to the naked eye in dark sky. The best time to observe M8 is during August.
Located 5,200 light years from Earth, M8 is home to its own star cluster . The massive stars embedded within the nebula give off enormous amounts of ultraviolet radiation, ionizing the gas and causing it to shine.

سحابی مرداب
سحابی مرداب یا مسیه 8 در سال 1654 توسط ستاره شناس ایتالیایی جیووانی باتیستا کشف شد
مرداب یک ابر میان ستاره ای غول آساست که در صورت فلکی کمان ( قوس ) قرار دارد
قدر ظاهری 6 آن باعث شده تا با چشم غیر مسلح بصورت شبحی از یک ابر دیده شود
بهترین زمان برای رویت آن تابستان و در فاصله 5200 سال نوری از ما واقع شده است
ستارگان عظیم جاسازی شده در سحابی مقدار زیادی از اشعه ماوراء بنفش را خنثی می کنند ، گاز را یونیزه می کنند و باعث درخشش آن می شوند
