The Triangulum Galaxy is a spiral galaxy 2.73 million light-years (ly) from Earth
The galaxy gets its name from the constellation Triangulum, where it can be spotted.
It is catalogued as Messier 33 or NGC 598. The Triangulum Galaxy is the third-largest member of the Local Group of galaxies, behind the Milky Way and the Andromeda Galaxy (the largest).
Under exceptionally good viewing conditions with no light pollution, the Triangulum Galaxy can be seen with the 20/20 vision naked eye
The galaxy is the smallest spiral galaxy in the Local Group and is believed to be a satellite of the Andromeda Galaxy or on its rebound into the latter due to their interactions, velocities, and proximity to one another in the night sky.

کهکشان مثلث یک کهکشان مارپیچی است که 2.7 میلیون سال نوری از زمین فاصله دارد
نام این کهکشان از صورت فلکی مثلث گرفته شده است ، جایی که می توان آن را مشاهده کرد
این کهکشان با نام های مسیه ۳۳ یا ان جی سی ۵۹۸ فهرست بندی شده است
کهکشان مثلث سومین عضو بزرگ گروه کهکشان های محلی است ، کوچکتر از کهکشان راه شیری و کهکشان آندرومدا که بزرگترین گروه محلی است
در شرایط دید بسیار خوب و بدون آلودگی نوری ، کهکشان مثلث را می توان با چشم غیر مسلح مشاهده کرد
این کهکشان کوچکترین کهکشان مارپیچی در گروه محلی است و اعتقاد بر این است که قمری از کهکشان آندرومدا یا در حال بازگشت به آن است به دلیل فعل و انفعالات ، سرعتها و مجاورت آنها با یکدیگر
