Banff Town
The town of Banff is nestled high in the Canadian Rockies within Banff National Park. Originally “Siding 29” on the Canadian Pacific Railway, the Banff townsite has attracted visitors from around the world since its very inception.
Flanked on all sides by towering mountains, along the Trans-Canada Highway, 126 km (78 mi) west of Calgary, 58 km (36 mi) east of Lake Louise, and 1,400 to 1,630 m (4,590 to 5,350 ft) above sea level.
Banff was the first municipality to incorporate within a Canadian national park. The town is a member of the Calgary Regional Partnership.In 1985, the United Nations declared Banff National Park, as one of the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks, a UNESCO world heritage site.
The town of Banff was first established in the 1880s after the transcontinental railway was built through the Bow Valley. In 1883, three Canadian Pacific Railway workers stumbled upon a series of natural hot springs on the side of Sulphur Mountain. In 1885, Canada established a federal reserve of 26 km2 (10 sq mi) around the Cave and Basin hot springs and began promoting the area as an international resort and spa as a way to support the new railway.[8] In 1887, the reserve area was increased to 673 km2 (260 sq mi) and named “Rocky Mountain Park”. This was the beginning of Canada’s National Park system.
Banff is one of Canada’s most popular tourist destinations. Known for its mountainous surroundings and hot springs, it is a destination for outdoor sports and hiking, biking, scrambling and skiing. Sunshine Village, Ski Norquay and Lake Louise Ski Resort are nearby ski resorts within the national park.
The Banff town site is small, easy to get around by walking or cycling, and has a convenient public transit system.
The vibrant streets of downtown are lined with top-class restaurants, bars and shops, as well as a number of incredible art galleries and museums.

For something short and sweet, the Bow River Loop and Tunnel Mountain trail are great options. For slightly longer options there’s Sundance Canyon, Hoodoos Trail, Spray River Loop and many more. Banff is teeming with wildlife at every corner—the Rockies are home to a diverse range of iconic Canadian mammals and birds. The best time for viewing wildlife is at dawn or dusk, and don’t forget to bring a camera (and bear spray)!

Stop by the Whyte Museum, and take a timeout at the historic Mount Royal Hotel, which has a small museum inside and some great public art on the outside.

بنف اولین شهرداریی بود که در یک پارک ملی کانادا ادغام شد. این شهر عضو مشارکت منطقهای کلگری است. در سال ۱۹۸۵، سازمان ملل متحد پارک ملی بنف را به عنوان یکی از پارکهای کوههای راکی کانادا، به عنوان میراث جهانی یونسکو اعلام کرد
شهر بنف برای اولین بار در دهه ۱۸۸۰ پس از ساخت راهآهن بین قارهای از طریق دره بو تأسیس شد. در سال ۱۸۸۳، سه کارگر راهآهن پاسیفیک کانادا بهطور اتفاقی به مجموعهای از چشمههای آب گرم طبیعی در دامنه کوه سولفور برخوردند. در سال ۱۸۸۵، کانادا یک منطقه حفاظتشده فدرال به مساحت ۲۶ کیلومتر مربع در اطراف چشمههای آب گرم کیو و باسین تأسیس کرد و به عنوان راهی برای پشتیبانی از راهآهن جدید، شروع به تبلیغ این منطقه به عنوان یک تفرجگاه و اسپای بینالمللی کرد.در سال ۱۸۸۷، مساحت این منطقه حفاظتشده به ۶۷۳ کیلومتر مربع افزایش یافت و “پارک کوههای راکی” نامگذاری شد. این آغاز سیستم پارک ملی کانادا بود

شهر بنف کوچک است، رفت و آمد با پیادهروی یا دوچرخهسواری آسان است و دارای سیستم حمل و نقل عمومی مناسبی است. خیابانهای پرجنبوجوش مرکز شهر مملو از رستورانها، بارها و مغازههای درجه یک و همچنین تعدادی گالری هنری و موزههای باورنکردنی است

برای یک پیادهروی کوتاه و دلچسب، مسیر کناره رودخانه بو گزینه بسیار خوبی هست. برای گزینههای کمی طولانیتر، ساندنس کانیون، تریل هودوس، رودخانه اسپاری و بسیاری دیگر وجود دارد. بنف در هر گوشهای مملو از حیات وحش است – کوههای راکی خانه طیف متنوعی از پستانداران و پرندگان نمادین کانادایی هست. بهترین زمان برای مشاهده حیات وحش هنگام طلوع یا غروب خورشید است و فراموش نکنید که دوربین (و اسپری ضد خرس) همراه داشته باشید
