Lake Minnewanka
Lake Minnewanka is a glacial lake in the eastern area of Banff National Park in Canada, about five kilometres (3.1 miles) northeast of the Banff town site. For well over 10,000 years, the deep waters of Lake Minnewanka have held the respect and high regard of those who have visited and lived upon its wild shores. Known to the Stoney Nakoda First Nations people as Minn-waki or “Lake of the Spirits,” the lakeshore holds archeological sites with documented artifacts from as long as 14,000 years ago.
Learn about the human and natural history of the lake on a cruise or simply explore by foot along the lakeshore trail that leads to Stewart Canyon, impeccably carved by the Cascade River that flows into the lake.
The area is rich in animal life (e.g. elk, mule deer, bighorn sheep, bears) and the easy availability of rock in the mountainous terrain was key to fashioning weapons for hunting.
The western end of the lake can be reached by following Lake Minnewanka Road from the Trans-Canada Highway. Boat tours are available near the parking lot. A hiking and mountain biking trail runs along the northern shore of the lake, passing Stewart Canyon and six backcountry campsites.[2] Mount Aylmer, which at 3,162 m (10,374 ft) is the highest mountain in this area of the park, is a few kilometres north of the lake.
دریاچه مینوانکا
دریاچه مینوانکا یک دریاچه یخچالی در منطقه شرقی پارک ملی بنف در کانادا، حدود پنج کیلومتری شمال شرقی شهر بنف است. این دریاچه ۲۱ کیلومتر طول و ۱۴۲ متر عمق دارد و آن را به دومین دریاچه طولانی در پارکهای کوهستانی رشتهکوههای راکی کانادا تبدیل میکند
آبهای عمیق دریاچه مینوانکا بیش از ۱۰۰۰۰ سال است که مورد احترام و توجه کسانی بوده است که از سواحل وحشی آن بازدید کرده و در آن زندگی کردهاند. این دریاچه که برای مردم بومی استونی ناکودا به عنوان مین-واکی یا “دریاچه ارواح” شناخته میشود، دارای مکانهای باستانی با آثار باستانی مستند از ۱۴۰۰۰ سال پیش است

انتهای غربی دریاچه با دنبال کردن جاده دریاچه مینوانکا از بزرگراه ترانس-کانادا قابل دسترسی است. تورهای قایقسواری در نزدیکی پارکینگ در دسترس هستند. یک مسیر پیادهروی و دوچرخهسواری کوهستانی در امتداد ساحل شمالی دریاچه امتداد دارد و از دره استوارت و شش اردوگاه کوهستانی عبور میکند.کوه ایلمر، که با ارتفاع ۳۱۶۲ متر بلندترین کوه در این منطقه از پارک است، در چند کیلومتری شمال دریاچه قرار دارد
